IT'S ALL ABOUT LINDSEY PART 2

Here are a few more items that I've finished for our "It's All About Lindsey" weekend. I've hung the "Longley Event Center Rules" on the back of the guest room door and I will give them the clipboard when I meet them at the airport and they will need to show me their photo ID'S and sign in.

Next I made a banner to hang near the door where they will walk into the house. I also made water bottle labels and chocolate bar wrappers for the water and chocolate that I put in their room. While I wait for them at the airport I will hold up the sign as if I don't know them and ask them to wear their name tags. I will do all of this provided I can keep myself from laughing! I've also made everyone name tags. Mine and my husband's aren't in the photo, but his says "Hired Help" and I have one that says "Driver" and another one that says "Activity Director".

I'm not sure if I'll get anything else made before they get here tomorrow night. I'm still thinking about a sign for the car that says "Longley Limousine Service" and a "Paid" reciept to give them at "Check-Out" Time. We'll see how it goes. My sister is celebrating her birthday today, so when they get here tomorrow night, we will be taking a break from "It's All About Lindsey" to celebrate "Just For Tonight, It's All About Janis".

The only glitch in my well thought out plans is that rain is in the forecast. I guess we'll be doing a bit more shopping and a little less beach time than we were planning.

Here's to making all the events in our lives a bit more creative!

SUNSET PERFECTION

Is this not the most beautiful sunset? I look at this photo and can't help but to feel a bit of serenity. My son took this photo at the end of a wonderful day that we spent together when he was here visiting in Feburary. We were taking a walk along the ocean in Laguna Beach when we stopped to sit on a few rocks and just look at the sunset. These two paddle boarders were getting ready to do their thing and it made the most stunning scene.

Unfortunately we had to leave soon after the photo was taken as the time was running out on our parking meter. I'm just so thrilled that my son was able to capture the photo as we saw the scene unfold. It really was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

May you find inspiration in the beauty of nature!

INSPIRATION BOARDS

You can find beautiful Inspiration Boards all over the internet and in magazines. I enjoy looking at boards that have a stunning color story or common theme. Below are my versions of an Inspiration Board. There's really no color story, but there is a common theme. I LOVE everything on my boards for one reason or another. It may be a sentimental card that a loved one gave me or a photo that takes me back in time. Sometimes I just hang something on my board because it makes me happy to look at it.

Do you have an Inspiration Board? If so, what's on it? If not, maybe today's the day to put your board together and surround yourself with THE THINGS THAT YOU LOVE.

Enjoy your weekend!

QUOTABLE

I'm a collector of quotes. I love a good quote be it funny or inspirational. I've been making cards for family and friends for years and enjoy finding just the right quote to accompany each handmade card. I found this particular quote in a magazine ad a few years ago. I think it was a Fiskars ad, but I'm not quite sure. It reads like this:

when i give a gift i made myself
first i feel proud, excited, and thoughtful
then i feel embarrassed and silly
and then i feel like i've given the best present
i could give...a part of me...
and then i feel embarrassed again

Well, if that doesn't sum up every emotion I feel every time I give a handmade gift, I don't know what does. After years of crafting and gift giving, and amidst the rollercoaster of emotions, I have learned one thing for sure. The best gifts I can give, are the ones that include a little piece of me.

Be creative. Be yourself.

QUEEN BEE MARKET

I'm thrilled to be a vendor at the up and coming Queen Bee Market in Carlsbad, California on May 1. This will be my first show and I'm so excited! I'm busy sewing and collecting any information I can on exhibiting at shows.

You will find a fabulous array of artists that will be selling their handcrafted goods. There's something there for everyone!

Have a creative day!

SAVE THE DATE!

My sister and her daughter, Lindsey, are coming to visit us for a few days over Easter. Lindsey is a high school senior and the two of them thought it would be fun to take a mother/daughter trip before she graduates and goes off to college in the fall. My husband and I are thrilled that they've chosen to come to California and visit us! To add to the fun, I decided to treat it like a big event and name the weekend:
"It's All About Lindsey"

First came the Save the Date:

Then came the official invitation:

I let a few weeks go by and then sent them some brochures to browse through. I had just been to a Bridal Show at an Anaheim Hotel and all those brochures for tourists were just what I needed. I bundled up a nice assortment with a note to my "Valued Guests".

A few days later, I received the Activity Forms that I sent along with the invitations and had asked them to fill out and send back to me. Notice: they both purposely signed up for different activities!

This weekend I'm working on some of the final touches. When I'm finished I'll post some photos for you to see. It's been so much fun setting the stage and hearing their reactions to what I've done so far!

Put a little creativity into each day!

I'm hoping that MY CREATIVE SIDE will be a blog where both of us will feel inspiration to do a little something creative every day. I've been crafting for myself, family and friends for years and now I'd like to share with you as well. I plan to post about the things I'm currently working on, things I've done in the past and projects I'd like to tackle in the future. Please check back with me often to see what's happening!
