MEET HEATHER

My daughter has chosen her wedding photographer, Heather Barta Photography, and I just had to share a couple of Heather's images with you. Heather takes amazing wedding photos, but her baby pictures really tugged at my heart. Have a look for yourself.
Aren't they just precious! Take a look at her blog where she has more photos to ooh and aah over. My daughter and her fiance are having their engagement photos take in October. I can't wait to see what you come up with, Heather!

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN AND OPRAH

Anyone that watches Oprah, knows how often she wears Christian Louboutin shoes. As I was watching her show one day, I thought that if Oprah had a baby girl, she'd find a way for that baby to wear Christian Louboutins. An idea was born! Here's my version of a Christian Louboutin Inspired Mary Jane. Shiny red sole and all. Only a bit more fun for the "small crowd" with a red polka dot lining.

If you aren't familiar with Oprah and her favorite shoe designer click here.
You'll fall in love and drool, just like the rest of us.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Ok. If you are a crafter, you know the conversation that you have in your head. You struggle between wanting SO BADLY to "take up that new craft", and knowing that the last thing you need is to "take up that new craft." So it was, with knitting for me. I used to knit years ago. I wasn't very good at it. I was so tense when I knit that the yarn used to squeak on the needle! It just wasn't fun. I admitted failure and gave away all my kniitting needles and leftover yarn. I was done. Until yesterday...

My cousin and her husband arrived to visit for a few days and while the guys were watching football, we ran in to the fabric store for just one thing. Kind of like the grocery store, I ran in for one thing and came out with extra fabric and some knitting books. WHAT? I don't knit any more so how did that happen?
My cousin, the knitter, didn't buy a thing. Me, the non-knitter got sucked in to the absolutely adorable baby patterns. "They're so easy", she said. "You can do this," she said. And after all, they were on sale! So here I am with the cutest baby patterns, and no needles or yarn. YET. Mom, can you send me your extra needles? I'll spring for the yarn. And when I admit defeat after hours of frustration trying to knit...to my dear cousin, you'll be getting the patterns, the needles, AND the yarn in the mail with a big sign that says,"HELP"!
Here's to INDULGING YOUR CREATIVE SIDE unless unlike me, you are able to listen to your PRACTICAL SIDE!

LEGOLAND AT LAST

Well I've been patiently waiting since I moved to CA 7 years ago to take a trip to Legoland. FINALLY we had some guests that wanted to go. I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint me. It's so clean and a really great park to take young children to. It doesn't have the chaos and crowds that Disneyland has so it's perfect for kids under the age of 5 or 6 (or those in their 50's)!

In honor of our trip to Vegas last week, where we stayed at the MGM, here it is made out of Legos. The attention to detail was amazing.

We went on a safari...

and it's hard to see in the photo, but 2 of my guests were eaten by a lion.

My souvenir from the day was a new key chain. My old key chain was a "diamond" ring since I was in the wedding industry. I thought a lego was more appropritate now that I am pursuing All Things for Baby full time.
If you have any little ones and are taking a trip to Southern California, don't hesitate to take them to Legoland. And hey, I'd be happy to go with you!

CELEBRATING IN STYLE

One of my customer's just sent me this photo. I made the shoes for this little darling's First Birthday outfit. Now that's how you celebrate your First Birthday in style when you are a mini fashionista! Too cute I say, too cute!

I'M BACK!

So, I know it's been awhile, but I've returned. It's been a busy couple of weeks. I've worked on some special orders...these shoes are made of an ultra soft micro-suede. May need to do some for the shop. Here's a portion of my booth from the show that I did a couple of weeks ago in Huntington Beach. There were some amazing vendors, but unfortunately not much traffic.

I just got back from a few days in Vegas. We met up with some old friends and made lots of new friends. Aside from the usual stuff you do in Vegas, we rode the roller coaster at New York, New York...a screamin' good time.

We also went for a limo ride in a Hummer. There were 19 of us and it was fun to be able to ride to dinner all together.

I've also quit my job and for now am pursuing my Etsy business full time. I'm so excited to see what will unfold as I'm able to devote more time to being creative. Oh, and we have company coming the next 3 weekends. So along with sewing during the week, I'll be spending the weekends at fun places like the beach, Legoland, and whatever else comes along. Besides it's September and autumn is my favorite time of the year.
Ahhh...life is good!
